Be The Storyteller

My Books

The legend that always resonates for me is that of The Little Mermaid. She gave up her voice for love, not really understanding what love was and (unlike the Disney version) it destroyed her.

It’s something we do, we sacrifice our gifts thinking that, somehow, we are doing it for others, for “the greater good”. But sometimes, that motivation to work for the greater good can also help us heal.

My first non-fiction book was my guide to being a live kidney donor. It took me seven years and what really motivated me were emails I received from people asking me for advice. I’ve never had any book where I have had so much personal response, so many emails thanking me or asking me for more advice and help.

But writing that book helped me more than it helped the readers, because it helped to unblock my own voice. And like so many people who are perceived or perceive themselves as quiet and shy, it turned out I had a really powerful voice.

True love really does break all curses.
